The 11 Steps to Sucessful Pipetting

1.     NEVER turn volume adjustment above maximum volume of the instrument. *

         (i.e. 1000ul pipette should never be used above 1000ul.)

2.     ALWAYS attach a clean tip firmly to the instrument.  NEVER handle the tip near the orafice.

3.     BEFORE entry into the sample solution, depress the thumb knob to the "first stop."

4.     Immerse the tip approximately 3mm into the sample soultion.

5.    SMOOTHLY release plunger knob to the release position.  Do not allow the knob to snap back.

6.     Withdraw the tip from the solution.  Do not wipe the tip.

7.     Place the tip against the sidewall of the receiving vessel, or touch it to the surface of the tray.

8.     SMOOTHLY depress the plunger knob to the "first stop"; pause, then depress the knob to the "second stop."

9.     With the knob still held in lowest position, slowly withdraw the tip while sliding the tip against the wall of receiving vessel.

10.    Return the knob to the release position.  Do not allow the knob to snap back.

11.    Remove the tip by firmly depressing the tip ejector button.

* Remember, all pipettes have a recommended operating range, and should not be used above or below this recommended volume.  Use of the pipette outside recommended range may cause serious damage.
